Note: this is a revision based up the reply below from Graham's management/owner. I'll give them that they tried but we were broken down with a vehicle that wouldn't start and had to be flat bedded in. I am an automotive instructor, I however could NOT diagnose this vehicle given the lack of tools/ equipment I had with me on a family trip and this van DID NOT go to any other repair facility. I paid AAA $85 extra to tow it to Graham's based upon their reputation and good google reviews. They had our vehicle for a week and charged $350 just to clean the throttle body. It didn't fix the intermittent starting issue as I assumed it would not. All i knew was that fuses looked fine and it had no corresponding powertrain codes to this issue. Diagnosis after I got it back showed steady fuel pressure but a lack of spark when the issue occurred. During the cranking no-start there was no RPM or crank signal input on the scan tool data stream, leading directly to the actual problem- an intermittently bad crank sensor. This issue only seemed to occur when the engine was cold and the van had been sitting, so they needed some time with it. However it shouldn't have been too difficult to track down this problem by a competent diagnostician. When I asked to speak to the tech working on the issue, I was not ever able to for some reason, and it was hard even to get a call back at times. When I did get called, I also asked Randy about the fee charged for shop supplies and disposal, he said it's just a standard fee in the industry. It shouldn't be when there are no shop supplies used (besides the trottle body cleaner used sparingly) or hazardous materials to dispose of besides a rag. This could have been better.

Hello Matthew, we are disappointed to hear that you are dissatisfied with the work that was performed. However, we wanted to make sure everything has been clearly communicated to you. When you dropped your vehicle off at our facility, you had a very intermittent issue. We got approval for 2 hours of diagnostic testing(level 1). Our understanding is that you are a shop instructor and have already attempted to diagnose your issue without luck. We also understand that you had taken it somewhere else where they could not diagnose your issue. So you brought it to us. When the vehicle came in, it started up and did everything it was supposed to do with no symptoms. We test drove it then pulled it inside and put it on the rack. We connected it to our computer software to review the information presented and were unable to find any codes other than the evaporative emissions system and catalytic converters. We reviewed those codes but neither would have caused an extended crank issue that you had described. At this point we were about 1 hour into our repair. We stopped, called you and got more information. We then found out new information that the problem mostly happens when the car only runs a short time and restarts. From there we went back and went through some common issues relating to your concern and found that the throttle body was very dirty and recommend cleaning it. We did not guarantee this was going to fix all of your problems, just that we needed to clean it to eliminate the chance that it is the cause of the issue. We completed that procedure and advised you that the issue had not returned on our test drive, but cannot guarantee the issue is resolved. We had used the pre authorized amount of 2 hours and were going to stop there unless you wanted to authorize more time. We advised you that if the problem returns, we will have to diagnose further. You agreed and picked up the vehicle. A few days after you left, the problem did return. As discussed prior to picking the vehicle up, we recommended that you bring it back for more diagnostic testing. We only charged you for 2 hours of time used, as discussed before you dropped the vehicle off. We stopped after 2 hours and that included completing the throttle body cleaning. Unfortunately, we cannot test every system in the vehicle within 2 hours. When it comes to this sort of repair, there could be multiple issues present. Cleaning the throttle body was just a starting point. Also, we would expect that you would understand the problem was not a cut and dry, easy repair, as you had already attempted to diagnose yourself and at another shop. We were more than fair with what we have charged and were very clear with our communications and what you should expect. We did not charge you anything that was not pre- authorized and we did not ever state that your vehicle was fixed and the issue was not present anymore. We are sorry that this has caused you to think poorly of us, however we feel that we acted in a professional manner and were 100% up front about the diagnostics on your vehicle. We wish you the best with your vehicle.

The fixes they needed to make took longer than anticipated, but they kept in close communication with me on a regular basis letting me know what the situation was looking like. They also had to go with a more expensive option to fix the issue after they had quoted the job, so they charged me the quote price and saved me money! 10/10 recommend Graham’s Auto.

Purchased a Cadillac Escalade about a year and a half ago. It had some issues with the lifters. We reported it to Grahams auto off right away. They went ahead and fixed it without complaining. They did an awesome job and we are really thankful we had great people to deal with. Grahams auto gets five stars from us! Thanks Graham. Have a wonderful day!
