Not too happy about my visit to Bob and sons. I went in for an inspection. I needed shocks and brakes to pass, but in the report they listed several things that weren’t safety items and didn’t need to addressed right away. So I told them I would take care of those items. They did the work after giving me an estimate for brakes and shocks. When I pick it up it was about $250 more than the estimate. But they said they’d send me a nice coupon! (Eyes roll) After looking through the invoice, they went ahead fixed some of the other things on the report that I said I would address. Like charging 65 dollars to add a screw to my license plate so it wasn’t crooked. I was willing to look past all that, however, it seems they’ve replaced my non-squeaking brakes with brakes that squeal like a pig being butchered. I made an appointment at another shop to fix the noisy brakes and inspect the shocks they installed. With all the garages in the area, I see no reason to take my vehicle back to Bob and sons.

Hi Brandon – we never like to hear when someone says they aren’t happy with their visit. We see you visited in early April with your Nissan for a New Hampshire State Inspection. It’s a bummer to hear about your experience several weeks later because we offer a THREE YEAR/36,000-mile warranty on ALL parts and labor absolutely FREE and could have double checked and corrected the cause of the brakes squealing at no cost to you. Your vehicle failed New Hampshire State Inspection for rear shocks and brakes, and a loose hanging license plate. In order to get a New Hampshire State Inspection Sticker from us on the same day of your appointment those items needed to be corrected to issue a valid sticker. The other items listed on the FREE Digital Vehicle Inspection (DVI) are health checks and for your information only – to decide what is best for you and your vehicle maintenance. You mentioned you would take care of those items on your own, which we absolutely understand. We’re very diligent about explaining prices and approvals before work begins because we understand how important budgeting can be. We never swap “coupons” for costs – we ask new customers for their address to send discounts and reward certificates throughout the year. If your invoice differed $250.00 from the time of estimate to your invoicing, we’d like an opportunity to correct it. We’ve left a voicemail for you to discuss because we don’t want anyone to feel like they left with a bad experience. I have to agree with the previous review done by PN that when you take a car in for inspection, they find a ridiculous amount of so-called issues. I made the mistake of taking my daughters 2012 Toyota Camry for just an ordinary inspection. As stated in a previous review, they came back with a laundry list of so-called issues that had to be addressed. They said the car actually failed inspection because the headlights were frosted, but told me for $285 they could do a restoration.(Just a foot note here I had a restoration done for $112 at another dealership) When I told Erica, I was taking it to another service technician for a better price, but I would bring it back for them to complete the inspection. I was told, I would have to wait at least 2 to 3 weeks for a reinspection. So think about this, the issue they have is the headlights why would it take 2 to 3 weeks for a Technician to look at the headlights? I’m sure if I had paid them $285 they would’ve done the reinspection right away. And by the way, there’s additional charge for a reinspection. I strongly recommend to anyone Do not take your car to this location for any type of service.

Hi Steve – we’re sorry to hear you misconstrued our free Digital Vehicle Inspection report that shows the health status of your car (recommendations only) versus the only item required on your vehicle in order to pass NH State Inspection (the headlights). We do not require any of our customers to use Bob & Sons Automotive to complete required repairs at our shop for NH State Inspections and/or return for the reinspection process. Your hostility towards our staff was confusing on the phone especially when we weren’t allowed to speak and even worse in person. Great hospitatlity!!!! First visit in February 2024. I called and I was helped right away. I had to have my bearing repaired asap. I didn't have to wait and my worry was taken care of. My vehicle was fixed to perfection! Such a relief to find a place that has excellent customer service with dependable workmanship. I will definitely be going back this month for inspection.

First off Ian and his team are amazing! I needed brakes on my suv. They are one of our client and we alway want to give back to the people who support us. I called a round to a few places and everyone was similar in priced. I decided it go with Bob & Sons because I really did not want to go to the dealer. When I called, Ian was extremely professional on the phone and when finding time in my schedule he even offered a loaner car while my car was being repaired. I dropped off my car and they kept me updated every step of the way with picture and text messages! There was no guess if my car was being worked on or when it will be done. They even did a multi point inspection and Ian even called and ask if I had any questions, which I did! When I got my car back there was no oily residue on my steering wheel or door handle ( that drive me crazy) and the brakes were fixed! Thank you Bob & Sons team I will be a client for life!

Somehow, some way, every inspection, this place finds several thousand dollars worth of repairs that needs to happen to pass inspection. I’ve never needed repairs in my 20 years of driving since I do a lot of work myself. Never needed more than a headlight change to pass inspection anywhere else. But now that I’ve brought several cars in to Bobs for the first time.. just somehow.. all these things that work fine need to be fully replaced at a premium cost. Almost like you have to pay to play..

Hello P N - all authorized NH State Inspection Stations are required to follow the same Chapter Saf-C 3200 rules with the state of New Hampshire - unless a vehicle requires work in order to pass safety, emissions or OBD then a sticker is given at time of inspection. We do not require the work to be performed here, nor the re-inspection if necessary but we do abide by the laws set forth.
