Very thorough but I got a second opinion on my rear shocks and got a quote $600 less than what this place quoted me…

Got a quote from these guys today totaling around $2480 (and charged me $94 for diagnosis) and then went to Inner City Auto repair for a second opinion and he said I didn’t need one of the things Bob & Sons recommended and quoted me less than $1,000 on the rest. Also didn’t even charge me a diagnosis fee. Sooo glad I went for a second opinion!

We pride ourselves on being a reputable repair shop using reputable parts while offering warranties (3 years/36k miles for brakes for example) - in addition to staffing ASE Certified Automotive Technicians and offering services such as full transparency texted or emailed pictures of the health of your vehicle, loaner vehicles, after hours pick up and drop off and other services most small shops or dealerships don't. I’ve listed the services we recommended below for your vehicle - which included a full texted report with photos showing why all services were recommended including your original ask to diagnose for “Just for a funny sound I think it might be my brake pads or something!” In this particular scenario the front brakes had no pads left whatsoever and the brake wear indicators were extremely worn with metal rubbing on metal. Brake wear indicators are one way your car lets you know that your brake pads are becoming dangerously low and unfit for safe driving. We assume another shop wouldn’t need to charge an additional diagnostic fee because all of the information and photos were available to make an educated and budgetary decision best for you. Recommended Services: -Diagnose Airbag light -Replace windshield -We do not have alignment history on this vehicle. Alignments are recommended to be done once per year -We recommend replacing the battery and servicing the battery terminals -Your vehicle's serpentine belt appears to be original. We recommend replacing the vehicle engine serpentine belt at this time -We recommend replacing your vehicle's engine air filter today -Your front brakes are worn down past their useful lifespan and need to be replaced -Replace Rear Disc Brake Pads & service system We appreciate you giving us a try and drive safe!

Very rude customer service to someone who just moved to this state. I needed to remove my window tint as the only item on my state vehicle inspection to be addressed. I did this myself to save money since I just moved halfway across the country. I only had this week to get the move in process completed before starting work again. I told them this entire scenario. I called back to reschedule to see I had removed window tint and refused to get my car to do this quick visual check for almost 2 weeks out. Now I have to have entire inspection process done again by someone who is more human. Will not be coming back ever again.

Hi Lynn - it’s a bummer when we hear stories like this because it’s not what we strive for. I reread the text strings and inspection report and I understand it can be frustrating moving to a new state and learning that the state law drivers have to abide by includes a certain level of tint allowed on windows. In order to continue operating in compliance with state regulations, we are required to fail a vehicle within a certain percentage of tint depending on where it’s placed on the vehicle. We need to schedule a vehicle re-inspection if you have someone other than Bob & Sons Automotive perform the work with a fee as we need to rescan and redo the reporting with the state - it’s more than a visual inspection unfortunately, although we also wish it were that simple. Also, I understand you were on an extreme timeline - and we’re very forward about not having waiting appointments or exact time frames for work. We pride ourselves on thoroughly inspecting, servicing and maintaining vehicles for each and every customer to try to extend the life of their important investment. I have been going to Bob and Son's since I moved to NH. I trust them to a through job and that is what they have delivered time and again. I brought in a used vehicle I was hoping to buy for a Pre-purchase Inspection and turns out the seller was trying to deceive me by withholding information that would have cost me at least $1250.
