Extremely disorganized operation.
This shop helped me out when I was on my way home to Chicago and my check engine light went on. Not only did they run a diagnostic for me right away so I knew it was safe to drive the rest of the way home, but they also gave me the information I needed to make sure I received only the right repair when I got back to Chicago.
Extortion simply put. Recently brought in my sons truck to have a wire diagnostic done due to brake lights staying on. Signed a contract for fee to have done. Had truck for more than 2 weeks due to kept pushing our scheduled appointment back. Had to call several times to get updates with answer always being “need another day. “ Finally fed up went to pick up truck which is not fixed nor do they have an answer on what the problem is. When picking up was told it would be couple hundred more even though no answers. During argument over charge owner took vehicle and put in shop till we paid. If this isn’t the definition of extortion i’m not sure what is.

Feb 24, 2024Austin. Thanks for the review although not a positive one. Please let me start by saying we are truly sorry for your non positive experience. Although not completely accurate, I'll elaborate. Simply put: 1)Bring vehicle in for service and give description of concerns to service advisor. 2) Service advisor gets authorization for initial estimated work needed. 3) Work is performed within estimate. 4) Vehicle is repaired and client is contacted when work is completed. 5) Client picks up vehicle. IT'S THAT SIMPLE. We do it over and over and over every day. When you came in to pick your vehicle up you felt that you were not given a total for the diagnostics performed. That was not true although I explained several times to you that you were given a estimate and your wife had asked to see your phone and several calls from us were on your previous call list to confirm this. We know and follow the law very closely as we know that we cannot perform work unless we have prior authorization. At that point your wife asked you to please step outside as you were still upset. Your wife and I then talked and I suggested that with the misunderstanding I agreed to cut the $200 bill in half and we would call it a day. She agreed and said (thank you)! She then proceeded to get her checkbook out and write a check for the balance. I advised her we don't accept checks but said I will make an exception again given the situation with a promise that she "would not cancel the check". She said "oh no, no problem I wouldn't do that". Well low and behold I got a cancelled check notice in the mail from my bank. If other businesses are reading this please beware of this client. Ones actions defines ones character and the Austin Follis family are definitly characters. I sure am glad that their name is all over the internet when they leave a review. Maybe they should have thought of that first.
I have been bringing my vehicles to Hoffman’s for quite some time and they do not disappoint. I have definitely brought them some complicated problems and somehow they still figure out the issues even when other places were stumped. The teams knowledge and experience at Hoffman’s is bar none. They have much more comprehensive diag equipment than many shops have, which results in them figuring out the issues faster, saving everyone involved time and money. Paired with their excellent customer service and communication, I truly can not recommend Hoffman’s highly enough. Al runs a tight ship and is fair and honest, also something important that you can’t find everywhere. Long story short, if you’re looking for an EXCELLENT repair facility to have your vehicle serviced at, look no further! They will take great care of you.
Very accommodating and fast friendly service always looking for ways to save the customer money instead of ripping people off great guy great personality

0/10 would not recommend. They had my car for over 2 weeks and it still runs terrible. They do low level work. They put my car to the side to as they said "work on more important clients." They lost my key in another customer's car and broke multiple bolts. Save your money and go to a place that actually works on your car.

You did drop your vehicle off right before the 4th of July weekend and then the Turbo that you wanted took 1 week to arrive which we discussed with you. We understand it is frustrating to wait but we have no control over shipping and we always strive to provide the best customer service with any and all delays. Best service I've had in ages. Took my truck in for major repairs, came out almost $600 under estimate. (Total was $3000 less than Bouchier Ford) I just cant recommend these guys enough. Certainly have a customer for life with me!
