J &T Automotive fixed a tire on my wife's car that had a slow leak in a timely manner

I had a funny metal sound like my brakes needed repair. And they got me in right away. Always above and beyond. My car repair family.

Had our van diagnosed and discovered it was the starter. Quoted over $500 to replace it. Quote cost from them for replacement starter from Napa was $185. I checked with Napa and Orielly and both quoted me right around $100 for a lifetime warranty starter, where J&T said they would only warranty for two years. So they mark up the cost of the parts by almost double. Also quoted about $225.00 for labor to change a part that has three bolts, a cable, and a wiring harness and probably takes a half an hour to change. When I questioned the unbelievably hight cost the manager said "That's business" That's one word for it. Another one would be "Gouging" people who have no clue how much they are overpaying for this shop. I have since found out this place has a reputation for gouging. I will never use them again. But, for what it is worth, to the owners and the manager, please know, this review is not at all personal, it is strictly business...Godfather! :D Response to Owner Comments: Yes I paid $600 for the first starter which also included hidden fees as well, and you can believe I left them a scathing review too. The fact remains you quoted me $185.00 for a $109.00 part tells me you grossly mark up the parts between the parts store and your customers. The diagnostic you mentioined was roughly $60.00. That leaves $255.00 for labor, which I will stand by based on your quoted numbers. And no I am not a professional mechanic, but I have done pretty much all of my on work on our vehicles for 35 years and avoided being ripped off by shops like yours. But with the tools and equipment you have, no it would not take anyone more than 30 minutes to change that starter, as was confirmed when I finally did take my vehicle to the shop that put in the original starter because I found out that I did in fact have a warranty through them. They actually honored the warranty and replaced the starter and covered it all. In the process of getting that done, the manager of that shop told me that if there was any vehicle that, if he had to replace a starter for free, it was ours because of how easy it was to get to and change. When I asked him how long it actually took, since it came up, he said about 30 minutes, if that. Piece of cake. I just feel bad for all of the people who have no idea how much they are getting gouged and I am sure you will continue that practice, but you absolutely will not be getting anymore of my money, that I can guarantee. Remember. It's not personal, it's just business, as you so eloquently said to me. The Don would have been so proud.
