I’ve used Dale’s before and they were great, except for today. I called today to see if they had availability the following week to take a look at my car that was having ignition problems. Whoever was on the phone was not helpful at all and hung up on me while I was trying to describe the problem. Quite unprofessional. I will be taking my vehicles to another local shop.

Hello Scott. This is Dale I you were talking to me. I asked you 10 questions about what was going on with your car and the answers you gave had nothing to do with my question. I mentioned that it is not uncommon not to understand some of the terms we use and need to use. I was even giving an example and you couldn't comprehend and gave me an answer that yet again had nothing to do with my question. Cars are complex and communication is key. We could not communicate. Good luck at another shop.

FAIR, HONEST, HIGHLY SKILLED. Dale is an extremely knowledgeable mechanic. He does quality work as if working on his own car. So many shops will work to maximize the amount of work your car "needs". Dale is as honest as they come. He does not try to talk you into work that doesn't need to be done. It seems that people have caught on to this shop and so he has a busy schedule. I waited a month to get my car in because I had no intention to take it to any other shop.

We were really impressed with this shop, but that opinion quickly changed. We bumped our mirror and asked them to look at it to see if they felt it was functioning properly. During the inspection the mechanic stuck his fingers behind the mirror and made it worse. When we spoke with Dale about the situation he was not cooperative and not willing to take any responsibility or compromise to remedy the situation.

This is in response to Timothy Erickson letter about his mirror. First some background about me. I started in the auto repair business 48 years ago. I am and have been an ASE Master Certified Technician for over 40 years and have had my own business since February 15th 1982, at this location for 37 of those years. I was one of the first 12 shops in the Kansas City region to be a AAA approved facility when they started the program here in 1996. I have remained AAA approved facility since then. I am also a NAPA Auto Care Center. We have to pass high levels of inspection and scrutiny to attain and maintain association with both AAA and NAPA. As you can see, I am not only the owner I am a Certified technician as well. The employee Mr. Erickson speaks of has been here for many years and is also an accomplished technician by the name of Chris. Neither of us are perfect and do make mistakes. If Chris makes a mistake he is the first one to tell me and is not afraid to do so. When mistakes are made by either one of us I will always make it right with the customer, I do pride myself on fairness and integrity. Now to our side of the story. Mr. Erickson brought his 2015 Toyota Sienna in on July 27th in for a brake inspection. We performed this service as well as replaced his wiper blades. When he arrived to pick up the vehicle he told Chris the mirror had been impacted and wanted to know if the mirror could be snapped back in. Walking to the vehicle to look at it Chris told him it is all plastic connectors behind the mirror and usually needs to be replaced. You can see the outside of the mirror has been impacted by the scuff mark and missing paint. The top of the mirror was positioned out so far that Chris could use an ink pen and flashlight to show Mr. Erickson the broken pieces and confirmed the need for replacement. Now fast forward to August 11th, Mr. Erickson brings in a 2007 Toyota Highlander for an oil service. After checking the vehicle in Mr. Erickson asked if I could look at the mirror on his Sienna because it had been impacted and was not functioning correctly. I walked out to the Sienna that Mrs. Erickson and driven in to pick up Mr. Erickson and she had the window down. I took out my flashlight and looked in and told them both the mirror is broken and would require replacement. At that time Mrs. Erickson told me the story they have conveyed to you that Chris used his fingers to look at it previously and broke it. Chris had not said anything to me because he had looked at it, showed Mr. Erickson it was broken and that he had not done anything wrong. I asked Mrs. Erickson "if there wasn't anything wrong with the mirror, why had Mr. Erickson asked Chris to look at it in the first place?" She did not respond to my question, just asked what was I going to do about it. I asked the same question again, still no response. I can only guess that is what they are referring to about me being rude. I certainly was not trying to be rude, just point out the facts. The oil service was performed the next day and picked up on August 12. It was not until later that day that I asked Chris about the encounter and he told me the story. Now as proof to what I am saying, I challenge anyone and everyone reading this and Mr. and Mrs Erickson to go to any car in the parking lot and see if there is room to put an ink pen much less two fingers behind the glass of the mirror. It is impossible unless it is broken! Best regards Dale Hoerl dba Dale's Automotive This is in response to Timothy Erickson letter about his mirror. First some background about me. Had to have my car taken in for a diagnostic due to sudden engine failure and they gave me an answer quickly, with a reasonable fee. Unfortunately the car was a loss, but Dale gave me really valuable advice about what to look for in a new vehicle, and answered all the questions I had. Very personable and professional service, highly appreciated!

This is a long overdue review. Dale and his team have helped me out over the past few years servicing my truck. When people bring their cars into mechanics they are understandably intimidated- but here there is no need. Dale will always put everything into layman’s terms and treat you with the utmost kindness in the process. The quality of work is unmatched and along with the years of experience you just simply can’t get this anywhere else. This is a type of place that is hard to come by, so if you are reading this to try to make a decision on where to go I’m telling you right now this is the place to go.
