First time there got in early for a flashing light on the dash let me know what was up pretty quick and on my way
My wife took our family vehicle in for a simple oil change prior to a road trip. Upon completion of the oil change, Stickler's reported a leak and oil soaked spark plugs. They convinced my wife it was a massive issue that needed to be taken care of immediately. The cost was $600 and they began taking apart to engine bay. Something about it didn't feel right as this was our first experience with this garage and the vehicle had no issues previously. We chose Stickler's because we were headed into a holiday weekend and appointments in town were limited. I asked them to pause their work and called a mechanic friend who also felt their diagnosis was curious. I ended up having the car towed (disassembled) to Engine Transmission Exchange, whom I cannot recommend enough, and their team confirmed my fears that there was in fact NOTHING wrong with the car and the Stickler's team was trying to get a quick buck from my wife who knows nothing about cars. They tried to scare her into a bigger bill and take advantage of her naiveté. Once ETE put the vehicle back together and inspected it for the issues that were reported, they gave it back and we ended up driving it 3000 miles in a week with no issues, only confirming the fact that Stickler's was trying to take advantage of us with a fabricated issue. In the end I have reported Stickler's and their predatory practices to the Better Business Bureau and I want it to be clear that they are not to be trusted.

May 24, 2023We would like to clear up a few things in this statement. We did call his wife and let her know of a leak. We found oil seepage at the ignition coils which indicated that the seals under in the valve cover are leaking. If left alone, would cause oil to leak down into the cylinders and oil soak the spark plugs. This had not happened yet, but would happen if nothing was done. This then could also cause a misfire on the engine, creating more issues. They were going on vacation, so we advised the repairs to avoid problems on vacation. We would never take advantage of anyone or try to make a quick buck, that is not how we run our business. The repairs with the oil change would have cost $500, we did start working on the vehicle but the husband called and had a stop work. He requested pictures, which we sent to him showing the fluid seepage that we noted. He did them have it towed from our shop. We do not agree with ETE that there was nothing wrong. Yes, they were able to drive without issues because the issue is a slow leak over time. Eventually if the leak is not taken care of, they will have issues. He has reported us to the state and the BBB, both of which we have been cleared of predatory practices. We consider this matter closed and stand behind our diagnosis and recommendation.
Stickler's is the place to go for auto repairs. They replaced my passenger side mirror and did a great job and were reasonably priced. Mike gave me an estimate the day after I busted it and was able to fit me in the following day and put on the new one. A big thank you to Stickler's Automotive Service.
Noticed a squeak in my car. Stickler’s got me in quickly and had the issue fixed within a few hours. The price was fair. In addition, the issue wasn’t what I thought and they easily could have upsold me to add extra charges but didn’t. Glad to have found an honest shop.
