Great service and prices The best shop in menomonie

I would rate them a 6 out out of 5 stars if I could. After visiting a different shop, J&L saved me over $1,000 on work I didn't need done and wouldn't have fixed the problem. Their prices are very reasonable, Mike is a very friendly and easy person to talk to, and they are very honest. My car now works like new and I would gladly do business with them again.

I moved to the area from the metro Twin Cities. Was nervous about getting a mechanic because I grew up in a home with mechanics, very rarely did we outsource our vehicle repair, and it’s hard these days to find a trustworthy repair shop. But I was in need of one and too far from home to have the family fix it (and frankly wasn’t their problem to fix). I turned to J&L Auto and took a chance based on the reviews. The reviews were no lies. From the first call all the way to the pick up call, it was a pleasant experience. They did a thorough job in great time and filled me in on anything that came up during the process, and they weren’t pushy or belittling like some shops are. The staff were kind, respectful, and you could tell, truly cared about their clients and their vehicles. Prices were fair and affordable for the quality of experience and repair. They will definitely be my go to for any future inevitable repairs and my first to recommend to anyone else in the area. If you are still reading this far, then I would like to include more detail. I would say that J&L Auto saved my life. I know that sounds dramatic but honestly they practically did. I took my car in to get a routine transmission fluid flush and an oil change. When they started up my car to prepare it for the change, they noticed a loud noise while driving it. They did some investigation and found out one of my wheel bearings was worn down. And it was bad! They called me and informed me of what came up and I told them to go through with the repair. I had heard an increasingly loud noise since I got the vehicle and had dismissed it. I know, I know, I'm dumb for doing that. But I grew up with beaters my whole life and there was always a loud noise (usually because of the muffler, and it wasn’t anything serious when checked out) so I went ear numb to the sound. Due to this, I wasn’t planning on getting it checked out. But lo and behold I find out that it was the wheel bearing, all because J&L Auto did their due diligence and went beyond what was expected. If it wasn’t for them, my wheel could have came right off while most likely going 70 mph (I commute on 94 almost daily and take frequent trips to the Twin Cities) any one of these days and that wouldn’t have been a pretty sight. Or at least further damaged my car beyond knowing. So huge shout out to J&L Auto for going, literally, the extra mile. I would also like to add that during the phone call where I was being informed about this, the staff member was very kind and respectful about it even though the situation was the way it was because of my own ignorance. Huge thanks to Mike and the staff members there!

I broke down out of town, and they got me back on the road in no time. He even let me borrow his truck to get some lunch!

I rented a Uhaul to go from his shop to Fleet Farm in Menomonie to my house off 21st st. and back. It was almost full but did not come off the mark or move much if at all for the use. The whole trip was less than 8 miles. He charged me 20 dollars fuel surcharge which is ridiculous. It was not a gallon of gas used. Won't use him again for any of my needs. I would not trust them to fix my car without ripping me off.
