I was hoping to find that Northwood Garage was the place I could start bringing my vehicles since we just moved into Lee last year. I brought my truck to them for an inspection and to look into a few other issues the truck was having. It failed inspection for 3 easy fixes which is fine. I decided to save $100 and fix them myself. I go back and they charge me a $25 re-inspection fee which I had never heard of before. I called around to other shops and dealers and none of them ever charge such a fee. They charged me $55.42 to diagnose a front end wobble, a steering wheel shake( Which I told the guy at the desk that it was most likely the steering shaft bearing which is a known issue on these trucks) and a shimmy i get going in reverse. I'm told it needs a steering stabilizer to fix the wobble. I have them install it. I don't think anyone drove the truck after they replaced the stabilizer because on my way home from the garage the wobble was worse and my right front brake caliper was locked up and smoking. i paid $290.42 and got a truck that's inspected and doesn't drive any better than when I brought it in. I also feel like they wanted to punish me for doing the easy fixes myself. EDIT: Replacing the front calipers fixed all the issues I brought the truck in for. I asked them to check the brake system and they told me it was fine. When I took out the brake pads they were all completely cracked on both sides. Not something that happens over night. They also wanted to charge me $90 to replace a spin-on transmission filter that was leaking. I asked if it was just loose and they told me it wasn't and that the filter was bad. I brought it to another garage in town and it was just loose. I'm not sure if they even really looked at my truck

Good morning, I'm sorry you feel unsatisfied with the service you received. The Re-Inspection fee is very clearly stated on your original inspection failure documentation, and is not a "punishment" for fixing the vehicle yourself. The fee is there to help offset the fees charged to us by the state for every inspection we run through their machine, as well as paying the technician (again) to perform another inspection. As far as your wobble concern goes, you were informed that we were unable to duplicate it, and that we had to start with replacing the known-bad steering stabilizer, rotating/checking balance of the tires and checking/correcting the alignment. You elected to only replace the stabilizer. As far as the caliper locking up, your vehicle showed no signs of a brake issue when it was here (either time), and while unfortunate, is a simple coincidence. It wouldn't have passed inspection if any of the brakes were dragging at the time, and a 16-year-old domestic heavy-duty truck will have things like that happen occasionally. More so if it's parked 95% of the time.

Was in the Area visiting Family and stopped at Cooper Hills pizza. Came out to a car that Wouldn't say a word. Lights worked but when I turned the key NOTHING. Called AAA and had them drag it Across the street. to await the bad news. They called me the next Afternoon and Told me the Starter had left the Chat. It was repaired that same day and while they had it I asked them to take a look at my A/C as it wasn't quite blowing like it should. they could have charged me for a full system service and I would have been none the wiser but instead they came back with "It's just a plugged Cabin Filter". If I lived here this would be my new GOTO Repair place.

Took my car into northwood garage for a simple inspection and was failed for numerous reasons, one of which was breaks. Stated I was metal on metal and would need pads and rotors all around. Got a quote but wanted a second quote to compare. Took it to a place my fiancé had used before only to find out I have at least half life on pads left and there was nothing wrong with rotors. Place just tries to make a buck on unsuspecting people or those who don’t want to take the extra step of a second opinion. Be warned

Take a minute and review your invoice, digital vehicle health report and the State’s Inspection machine report. No where, on any of those documents does it state that your vehicle failed safety inspection for worn brakes. You were ONLY failed for window tint, as seen here in your digital vehicle health report: https://motorist.autovitals.com/l/Nw7MBZ and is the same result that the second shop you took it to this past Friday "Corrected" . You were informed as a courtesy (and as required by law) that your rear brakes might need replacing within the next 10-15k miles and no estimate was given as you didn't want one. It is our policy to give an estimate on any future service needs. At no point were you told your brakes were "metal on metal" or was anyone trying to sell you brakes. We would immediately terminate any employee attempting to oversell or lie to our customers. We've been in business in a small town since 1955 and places that do the things you're describing don't last that long. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us at 603-942-8882.
