Beware of this place will try to take advantage of the situation. My 2016 Kia soul stopped driving past 50mph, down shifting abruptly and would rev up really high when gradually putting pressure on the gas pedal. They were the only ones that had a time available/ and nearby that I could safely travel too, to look at my car that day. I was in Lawrence to help my mom and then head back an hour and a half home to sleep before my shift back on the ambulance. Their mechanics looked at my car and diagnosed with a bad catalytic converter and quoted me around $1,500.00 for repairs and labor. Obviously I didn't have that amount on hand and had it towed to my parents house. My dad who is a mechanic, looked at it on his day off. Only thing wrong with my car is the RPM sensor was bad and my brakes needed replaced. The RPM sensor cost $80 to replace and the brake pads less than $50 each for front and rear.

May 24, 2023Hi Natasha, This is the owner of Auto Exchange Service Center. I read your review and would like to see if there is something I can do to assist you. I know unforeseen car repair costs can be frustrating so if we can help in anyway we are happy to. Our goal always is to repair a car in the most cost effective way for a customer. I checked the diagnostic info from when your Kia was at our shop and when we scanned your car it pulled a P0420 "catalytic efficiency" code. This is directly from your cars computer and since your O2 sensors were working properly, and based on your stated issues with the car, the standard recommended repair is to replace the catalytic converters. I know that replacing catalytic converter is a costly repair but we tried to do everything we could to keep parts and labor cost down. Our service writer worked at a Kia Dealership for 2 years and this model year (2015) Kia Soul is now notorious for having catalytic failures. Replacing an RPM sensor should help with some of the cars issues in the short term but it is still likely you will see a check engine light come on for "catalytic efficiency" failures in the future. Again, I would like to see how I can help so please feel free to call me at 785-832-1010 option 2. Thanks.
The customer service here is amazing! They do fantastic work on my vehicle but they take great care of me as a customer as well. They go above and beyond. They also take great care of their employees which is such a fantastic thing to see in today's world. Thank you to Mike and his team. I would recommend Auto Exchange to anyone looking for a service shop or if you are in need of a new vehicle as well. They can take care of your needs.
