On our way to Oklahoma from Kansas City we had 4 out of the 8 wheel studs on the driver’s side rear dually of our Ram 3500 break. We were fortunate to maintain control of the truck while pulling a fifth-wheel trailer and come to a stop on the two lane highway. I immediately started looking for a repair shop near Pittsburg, Kansas as we were just south of there. I remembered that I took our Ram truck in for a recall March of 2022 for a wheel stud recall and they told me that the wheel studs were fine and didn’t need replaced. Though this was July 28, 2023 and the recall inspection was performed on March 29, 2023, I have had only put 6,592 miles on the truck since then. Not used that often. Evidently, the wheel studs are not fine. I was able to drop the fifth-wheel in the driveway of some very kind hearted stranger’s house and limp the truck back north to Jay Hatfield Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Frontenac, Kansas. I was met by the BEST customer service staff EVER! Noah, Maegan, and Joel were there and went out of their way to get the work going. There were some minor setbacks, like the fact that both wheels, one of which is a custom aluminum wheel, were ruined, which meant that I had to find two wheels. We were able to dismount the tire from the spare wheel and use it to mount the good tire on it, but we still had to find another wheel. Another member from the service department, Jake, contacted a business that had one, so we went and got it along with more studs since I had them replace all eight wheel studs. As we were waiting on the wheel and studs, they called Ryan (who was in the middle of moving to another house) to assist. Ryan came in and began working on it. Jake even ran to his house to get a special tool needed to work on the rear hub and when returning with it began working on the truck also. They also put Jacob (Beef) to work on swapping the tires around. All in all, almost every technician had a hand in getting us back on the road that day! And, during it all and as stressed and angry as I was, this particular service team made me and my family feel at ease and was incredibly nice. If I ever get Ram to honor their recall and replace the remaining wheel studs, and if the truck can make it two hours to Frontenac, Kansas, I will be having Jay Hatfield’s service team do the work on my truck. No doubt, I highly recommend this service team! Again, Noah, Maegan, Joel, Jake, Ryan and Beef… Thank You!!
