Let me start by saying that my local Platinum agents, Sidney and Andrew are wonderful. Professional and responsive. But they report to and get their directives from a third party , the processor/closer, who may or may not be an outside vendor. The closer delayed my closing , a simple refinance numerous times requesting additional information and asking me to contact Equifax or other banks for further updates which involved the usual telephone dances with being on hold, or being told they could not provide the requested information, which I suspect is why the closer didn't want to trouble herself. Anyway we finally closed on 3/13. I was at peace. But the payoff letter(which the closer set up) expired on 3/15. I alerted all to this and in response the closer requested I contact Equifax to get an updated report. This is two days after closing! I went through another round of telephone bingo and was told Equifax' records are closed as the final file is marked "closed" I related this to the beleaguered Sidney, and she called the next day to say the closer had contacted Equifax (which arguably was not necessary and which she should have done in the first place) and that the proceeds are being timely distributed. As of close of business on 3/17 (4 days after closing), the closer had not yet distributed the proceeds. So my proceeds and the payments to various other financial institutions have not been satisfied. I'm waiting for the next shoe to drop and I envision a week of calling other financial institutions to try and explain the reason for the delay I'm 73 and a retired attorney. I offer this only to point out that I have a pretty good understanding of how these things are supposed to work and this has been the most disgraceful execution of an otherwise simple transaction, I've ever experienced, and that includes 50 years of visiting the DMV I'm thinking of registering a complaint with the SC banking department but I probably will not because I'm inherently lazy, and because I have the fondest regard for Sidney and Andrew, who are two of the finest people I've ever dealt with. We'll see where the shoe drops
