RUN AWAY! My brother and I took our car there to have it Dynoed, and we were on a time crunch. The owner said we need bunch of part for the build to be completed and gave us a verbal quote of little over $9000, we thought it was high, but we figured you get what you pay for. The engine blew up on the dyno, and the owner wanted $4000 more over the original $9000 he quoted us over the phone. He refused to give us a written quote, and he held the car as collateral. We are going to report him to the city of Anitoch for unlawful business practices and file a lawsuit. I hardly ever write negative reviews, but I want to help others save them the headache and money. STAY AWAY!

Jul 24, 2023PSA Everyone building a "project car" the work that was performed prior to going to a professional by yourself, friend, cut rate mechanic, etc can & will cost you more money. This customer contacted us for "Just a Tune'', we scheduled & when it showed up partly assembled we knew it needed way more help than just a tune/dyno session. After a quick visual inspection & questions to the customer of the potential horsepower of the engine we knew that changes in what was initially scheduled needed to be made, not only to customer's car but to our current work schedule load just to accommodate his needs. We were informed that this engine & supercharger combination was built to produce 1000HP. 3 Main issues were pointed out A No Heat Exchanger system, nothing, just a straight pipe from Supercharger to the Throttle Body B One o2 Sensor Monitoring (not good for a car potentially producing 1000HP) C No T-stat (customer was going to stop & start the electric water pump to simulate a T-Stat, that creates HOT SPOTS in the engine). Verbal quote given to address these (3) issues A,B&C, fabricate a custom heat exchanger system & convert to 2 O2 sensors & add T-Stat, tune on customers provided base map (that the car previously ran on) & the stipulation that as long as things go smooth & there are no other issues with this partially assembled project. Then customer calls & asks us to build crash bars for front & rear in the same time crunch. We pull the T-Housing off to find that it can't accept a T-Stat, we made a shim & machine the housing for a by-pass to keep water flowing to prevent hot spots, Reroute Water/Coolant hose for extra room, Vacuum Test Coolant System & Fill, found damaged plug wires, repaired & rerouted not to melt, relocate power steering hose, rewire relays - all additional time. Get to the part of starting this car up & read the base map from the engine computer & it's a HACK! Tables look like Mount Everest, settings incorrect, sensors erroring out & Injector data is off. Attempt to start & NO Fire, have to build Base Map from scratch now. No pointer to access for mechanical timing, finding true TDC & installing a pointer to set offsets for the computer. An entire extra DAY of sorting out issues with starting, spark sometimes, fuel injection sometimes, offset moving around after being programmed. All leading back to the customers wiring & lack proper connections, crimps & using cheap connectors, diag. & repairs. Called customer to inform him of the day, he was aware of the additional time that we put into his project. Customer said sorry for all of the headaches & wanted to know if we will finish tuning & crash bars by the next day because he was still going to an event & I said as long as everything goes smooth. Car on dyno next morning, tuning starts & 15mins in water is coming from under radiator cap, fix that, taking quick breaks to let my team finish the crash bars. Things look good until the customer's engine fails! Customer gets a call immediately he informs us of Epoxy used to repair an overport into a waterjacket in the head, RIP. Inspection of engine for finding of failure. Customer came to see the car we ask if he would like us to finish the crash bars in the rear, he said to proceed, so we did. Customer left, bill was finalized, sent & now well this. We don't ever wish failure on customers. We’re here to help them succeed, their wins are ours too. We know what it's like to have things fail/break, we have toys & it sucks! But don’t think for a minute that we discount the hard work put in just to start. Because you have to at least start before you fail or win! I have taken time to write this response, because we at DynoSource Performance, work hard & take pride in the work. People that don't respect the hard work & don't feel as there is value in the additional time required to get the job done need to take their projects somewhere else, don't waste our time or any other professionals time & not expect to pay.
