May 10, 2024Thank you very much for the review and support of our small business!!
Jake has done a lot of work for me on my vehicles and he is always thorough and stands behind is work. It’s hard these days to find people that take this much pride in their work to make sure customers are happy and most importantly safe driving down the road. Great place, great people, highly recommend

Mar 24, 2024Thanks Kyle! Appreciate your kind words and repeat business!!
I bought a truck that Jake had basically built. The truck performs better than anything I've ever owned, and looks the part. The problem with me buying a truck like that, is I have no clue what I'm doing and needless to say I royally screwed a few things up. Jake has been quick to help, fairly priced and never makes me feel like the idiot that I am. I now bring all of our vehicles here. I highly recommend HOTROD Performance to everyone, Thanks Jake!

Feb 24, 2024Thank you Alyssa, we really appreciate your business!!
I responded to a Facebook Marketplace post regarding four Ford Super Duty wheel rims for sale by Hotrod. The posting stated the wheels were in “used – like new” condition. I contacted the seller and we made arrangements for me to pick them up. As I walked in the shop, the four rims were stacked on the floor as depicted in the Facebook posting. Since this was an established auto repair business selling these rims and they were described as “like new,” I trusted the seller’s judgment and integrity by asking, “are these all round, true and ready to go?” He responded, “Yes they are. I did not polish them, since I did’t know if you’re going to powder coat them.” I gave him the $300, then loaded the wheels into my truck. Fast forward several days when it was brought to my attention by a tire guy that one of the rims had blatantly disfigured and elongated stud holes. Basically, one rim is unusable. After contacting the seller via text, I got back some somewhat interesting responses. Basically, I called him out on lying about the rims’ condition in the posting, and he seemed offended that I had the gall to do that. Through several back-and-forth texts, he did offer to send the offending rim to a welder to have it filled and re-drilled. However, I’m familiar with the mechanics of metallic materials and I refused that skulduggery (bad idea to mess with the center hub area, especially on SD rims). In the end, he did offer to refund my money, but to be honest, I didn’t feel like driving all the way up there. I did offer to meet him halfway for an exchange, but he refused. I decided to keep the three good rims as spares, then write online reviews of my experience with this business. I’m curious as to what the seller’s response to this review is going to be. I want to see if he basically claims that transaction was caveat emptor, which implies, “Hey, you screwed up, you trusted me.” Or, he may claim that he didn’t know the rim was unusable, which is just as troubling. How does this carry over to other auto repair issues? Well, let’s just say that if I got a receipt, invoice or shop order from this guy stating that certain repairs were performed and parts were replaced, I don’t know if I’d trust him. After this experience, I’d want to see and check every single individual part he claims he replaced. I am curious as to how this may affect his business insurance, as many underwriters will delve into online reviews when making a decision to insure a business or setting premiums. Knowingly selling condemned auto parts is a huge liability. Society, as a whole, is devolving into a cesspool of bad integrity. That cesspool obviously has now spread into the St. Croix Valley. Be careful. Trust but verify. Before you pay. I gave him an extra star, upgraded to two, because of his family picture…felt sorry for them. EDIT: I noticed the response by the business…first of all, the transaction occurred on 19 January…barely a month ago. As far as back and forth harassment, I communicated with him regardingg the bad rims on 26 Jan, 6 Feb, and 9 Feb. Not really harassment, is it? Regarding his “discount,” he advertised the rims for $300. I fail to see how this justifies selling me bad parts…!? Drama queen.

Feb 24, 2024Hey Robert, thanks for the review after 2 months. Borderline harassment with the back and forth messages, but to clarify for everyone else I offered you a refund for the transaction, which was discounted from $500 to $300. I also offered to repair the wheels and you denied both offers only after I told you that I wouldn't travel to pay you the refund amount. Don't preach accountability if you have none, I am unable help someone if there not willing to take it. Thanks.
Competitive pricing, extremely knowledgeable, friendly staff. I have brought my vehicles to Jake for a long time and I can’t say enough good things. I highly recommend Jake and his staff to anyone looking for top notch service.

Had them install a lift pump in my LML duramax. Price was competitive and service/communication was great. Will definitely be going back to them for work on any of my vehicles.
