I was interested in a car. I work at a dealership, and have a dealer plate that allows me to drive any car, from anywhere, in any state. I was still told I am not allowed to test drive a car off the lot. After reading other people’s reviews, especially the ones where they won’t put a car on the lift so a customer can see the under carriage, I would stay far away from this place. I have been an automotive technician for 30 years. We put cars on the lift and set it on the locks so customers can see issues all the time. We do this when they want to buy, or if they need service and they want to see what’s broken before authorizing a repair. All reputable dealers do this- beware of any that will not.

I will get back to this review after I share this review with the Vermont DMV dealer inspector tomorrow, but unless Vermont DMV has recently changed the regulations for Vermont car dealers, we still have strict dealer regulations to follow when it comes to vehicle demonstrations.

Wants to much for cars with high miles, 2nd no wiggle room on prices and every car I’ve gotten from there either blew up a transmission goes a few weeks later if I’m spending that much on a vehicle it’s not going to have over 200k on it

I bought a car there and it shortly died. $5000 down the drain… didn’t even get anything for scrap

I think you have the wrong company. We have not sold a car to anybody by this name.

I just called to see if they would be open to show a vehicle on Saturday and I've never heard a salesman so tired and jaded sounding on the phone! I've never felt less welcome in my life. At first he couldn't even tell me if someone was going to be there on Saturday then he said someone would be there in a tone that asked me not to bother them at all, ever. At that point I was thinking I was not going to even try doing business with salesmen who cannot be bothered to be pleasant on the phone but my husband wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt so he called and asked for them to put the car on a lift once we got there so he can see the bottom clearly and they laughed derisively at him and said good luck. Can't imagine what kind of treatment we'd get in person and we're not going to find out!

I am 68 Years old, 40 years building my business. I feel that I have earned my weekends off. I am curious to know the insurance company in Barre that would allow a mechanic to let a customer walk under a vehicle that is on a lift. Also asking me to spend 5-6 hours bringing a vehicle to your Barre mechanic is not sustainable for any small business with no employees.

Very pleased with my experience and recent purchase here, the lady who helped me was both professional and very courteous, which impressed me a lot considering she probably deals with jerks like me all day long. Thanks to Ron's for a good car at a great price.

Thank you Eric for taking the time to post about your experience. We are glad you had a pleasant experience here and that you are happy with your purchase. Everybody should take their time to find the perfect car for themselves. We are glad you did just that. Thank You Eric

Sold me a car with bad brakes. Wouldn't make good on it. Real grifters. I would NOT recommend buying a car here. .

This review saddens me. After dropping the price from $3995 to $3650, holding the car WITH NO DEPOSIT for two weeks, selling her this car on a Sunday (my only day off) and faxing paperwork to her finance company the car needs normal brake wear maintenance. How can somebody be so ungrateful? This truly makes me sad.

Today, August 8th 2022, I was at Ron’s dealership Sunday and looked the lot over, almost everything is from out of state which is fine. Just called to let them know I wanted to come and look at a car and test drive it, well come to find out if the car doesn’t have an up to date Vt. Inspection you can’t test drive the car, only around his lot. So I’m pretty sure you can’t tell what the car is going to do at 2 miles an hour!!!! You can’t even tell if the transmission will shift properly. Or even if the wheels will stay on. Guess he hasn’t heard of Dealer tags yet lol!! Or just maybe he doesn’t want you to take the car out on the road... nice paint and clean interior doesn’t push the car down the road!!! Beware every one. Better stay away from this joint!!!!!!

Just to clear up any misinformation – We have been a Licensed (tags) Used car dealer in the state of Vt for 38 Years. We have ALWAYS, and continue to do today, personally driven each and every vehicle that arrives here down the road on a 2.5 mile test drive to make sure the transmission and brakes are working like they should. Then the vehicle goes on the lift to check for any wheels that might “fall off” or rust issues. THESE ISSUES ARE REPAIRED AS NEEDED. Then the vehicle can be available and sold with confidence. THIS- “if the car doesn’t have an up to date Vt. Inspection you can’t test drive the car” IS A VT D.M.V. DEALER REGULATION WHICH HAS FINES AND REPRIMANDS IF NOT FOLLOWED. VT. DMV REGULATIONS – NOT RON’S AUTO REGULATIONS. THIS IS THE REASON WE PERSONALLY DRIVE EACH AND EVERY VEHICLE BEFORE THEY ARE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE! MOST OF OUR VEHICLES ARE PURCHASED OUT OF STATE BECAUSE OUR CUSTOMERS PREFER AS LITTLE RUST AS POSSIBLE.

Purchased a used car from them. People couldn’t have been nicer when looking…but that changed as soon as I called with a problem. Since the brakes were squishy the next morning I took it into my mechanic. He informed me that there was a hole in the fuel tank and that the brake lines were jerry rigged (needs between $2000 to $3000 repairs)…so basically we could have been killed on our 50 mile drive home through the mountains. The response I received from Ron’s was I shouldn’t have filled the tank up (only had an 1/8th of a tank). When I explained that it was impossible to get a replacement tank she told me that that was she’d call back with places I could purchase one…radio silence. Also, they only let you drive the vehicle around their lot because supposedly the state doesn’t allow cars without inspection stickers to be driven on roads (and of course the quality of cars they are selling they wouldn’t be able to get stickers), but it’s interesting that the state gives you 15 days to get a sticker and Dealer Tags allow them to be driven. And every other used car dealer allows you to drive them on the road. So don’t make the mistake I made…not only don’t go here….run away from here!
