Was a good garage to go to but Carlos the owner suddenly went on a racist rant against me. Came out of the blue. Very unprofessional and unpleasant.
Don't walk... run from this shop! I would give Colon Auto zero Stars if I could. I don't like to write negative reviews. In fact, most of my reviews are positive especially when I experience a service that I think others could also benefit from. My experience with Colon was not at all positive. Here are the details: In Dec 2023, I bought a used car knowing it needed a new Steering Rack and Pinion. I called Colon Auto and spoke with the owner Carlos. I asked if I could buy the rack and pinion myself. He said yes, and would charge me for labor ($500). I ordered the rack/pinion from Rockauto and when it arrived I dropped off the car and part, as agreed. Carlos then calls me and said that the rack and pinion was defective. So I ordered another one from Autozone and dropped it off and picked up the "defective" one to return to Rockauto. Meanwhile, Carlos also said I needed rear brakes. So i ordered new rotors and pads for all four wheels (figuring this was a used car and I might as well start off with fresh brakes all around). When Carlos removed the exhaust pipes to replace the rack/pinion, he noticed the mufflers were rusted. But I told him specifically that I was going to have a different shop install new mufflers. Carlos was pushy about putting on new mufflers and actually started badmouthing the shop I told him I was planning to use. The other shop had installed a new muffler on my other vehicle and I was very satisfied. Carlos nevertheless went ahead and installed mufflers WITHOUT my approval. But he didn't just install any muffler, he chose a pair that made an annoying high pitch drone that was especially deafening while on the highway. I told him these mufflers were too loud. But his reaction was that if I buy a different pair he'll install them for "free". My total bill went from $500 to $1850. Also, while raising the car on the lift, Carlos didn't put the lift pads on the designated spot for lifting a vehicle, and I later discovered damage to the frame under the car. This is one of the worst experiences I've had with an auto shop in Manchester. Definitely don't recommend Colon Auto.
The owners are amazing helped me out when I was in a bind,I was able to keep driving and take care of my day to day I will forever be grateful
My favorite mechanic (and his brother down the street) they are very cheap and do great work. They do fix other "small" issues that were not expected but only if they fix something and down the road another part that fails... Like if you get an alternator and they see the starter will fail they will just fix it to save you money down the line, they do not charge full price maybe 50% to replace the starter (if that makes sense) very highly recommend this place
Amazing service fair prices just an all around honest family run business. I won't take my vehicle anywhere but Colon Auto...
Think about what you want in a repair shop. For me, I look for honesty, transparency, friendliness (yes, I like a warm fuzzy when spending my $), timeliness and a reasonable price (not necessarily in that order). This business offered it all. I should mention I've worked in the car business for years, I'm aware of the many different ways shops take advantage of consumers and witnessed way too much condescension. No, it's not the Taj Mahal (waiting area is lacking) ... just go here to be treated right in every way.
