Well, that's part of the story. It's also why we don't install customer-supplied parts. This customer did, in fact, supply us the incorrect used part even after extensive conversation explaining his convertible uses a mirror that is unlike similar models. Still, we agreed to try and help but unfortunately we had to disassemble the door to do so. When it was discovered the used mirror wouldn't fit we reassembled the door and charged the customer for our time. All this was explained ahead of time which is why we go to great lengths to explain the whole situation and the risk. The customer left and came back in several times asking for a refund. We again explained the situation. The customer's grandfather then came in asking why we were charging for "doing nothing" and claimed it was an "easy" job and we shouldn't have charged his grandson. We again tried to explain and the situation heated up and I'm sorry to say escalated on both sides. We understand the customer's frustration but his anger should be directed at the person who sold him the wrong part. We did refund his money in full. This is another example of why we choose not to install customer-supplied parts, it rarely ends well for the customer or us.
