When local friends (and loyal repeat customers) recommended Pembroke Automotive Services, I thought it would be well worth the week-long wait for our appointment. Dropped it off early with very clear communication about what was happening and what was needed to be looked at and fixed. The whole day went by without so much as a phone call before going home -- let alone, it turns out, any repairs at all. Turns out, despite clearly saying that the vehicle would need to be brought inside the shop to avoid the rain coming through the cracked sunroof, it was indeed left outside and plenty of rain came through during business hours and presumably after hours as well. When asked about it since it had rained a fair bit during the day it was there, they just gave me a shrug and said they hadn't thought it was going to rain overnight. Turns out, saying that the wipers don't work got interpreted as "Replace the blades" (not, repair or replace the actual mechanism) -- such a treat to discover. Turns out, they're busy enough (and no doubt good enough) to be pretty indifferent to out-of-state referrals. When I left my vehicle early in the morning, I got "We'll have to see how much we can get done today," but it turns out that the answer is Absolutely Nothing and an offer to set up yet another appointment for a week or more away. Grown adults know better -- about how to communicate, about customers' very reasonable and well-communicated expectations, about how to honor their referrals. Both guys absolutely knew better and punted anyway. What a stupid waste of time and patience.
